Make your YouTube banner

YouTube shows the full banner on TVs, but on phones only the central strip is visible. Here you crop your image with that safe area marked in yellow.

Drag the box to move it and its dots to resize it. You can also draw a new one on the photo.

How to use it

  1. Choose your image (ideally at least 2560 px wide).
  2. Move the box: keep your text and face inside the yellow line.
  3. Tap “Crop” and upload the banner in YouTube Studio › Customization.

YouTube banner size

Size: 2560 × 1440 px, up to 6 MB. Safe area for text and logos: 1546 × 423 px in the center. If your image is over 6 MB, shrink it with compress image.

Questions and answers

Why does my banner get cut off on phones?

Because phones only show the central area. Keep everything important inside the yellow line.

What about video thumbnails?

Use crop image with the “YouTube thumbnail” format (1280 × 720).

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No. Everything is processed inside your browser, on your own phone or computer. Your photos never leave your device and nobody else can see them.
