Make a meme from your photo

The best memes for a group chat use a photo of the people in it. Pick the picture, type the line and drag the text where it belongs; the image downloads ready for WhatsApp, Instagram or Telegram.

Tap or drag on the photo to move the text.

How to use it

  1. Choose your photo or screenshot.
  2. Type the line in “Text”; press Enter for a second line. “Style” is already “Meme (outlined)”.
  3. Adjust “Text size” and, if you like, “Text color”, then drag the text onto the right spot of the photo.
  4. Tap “Create image” and download it.

Text at the top and at the bottom

The text is a single block. For the classic two-line meme, write the top line, drag it to the top edge, download the image, open the downloaded file here again and add the bottom line. Two passes take under a minute and each line keeps its own size.

Making the text readable

The outlined style is white with a black edge and sets your words in capitals automatically, so it reads over faces, skies and dark corners alike. Keep lines short and leave a little margin from the edge so apps that crop previews don’t cut the words. If the photo is too busy, the “Dark band” style puts the text on a dark strip instead.

Questions and answers

Can I use a meme template instead of my photo?

Yes: save the template image to your phone or computer and open it here like any photo.

Is there a watermark?

No. The downloaded image contains only your photo and your text, at the original resolution.

Can I add a border or a filter?

Download the meme and open it in add border for a white frame, or in photo filters for a vintage or posterized look. The general add text to photo page has the plain and dark-band styles.

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No. Everything is processed inside your browser, on your own phone or computer. Your photos never leave your device and nobody else can see them.
