Photo for a Colombia visa
Colombian visas are requested online on the Foreign Ministry (Cancillería) platform, and the photo must be uploaded as a JPG of 300 KB max, 3 × 4 cm, in color and with a white background. Here it comes out with the right size and file weight.
Drag the photo and zoom: the top of the head goes on the upper line, the chin on the lower one and the face inside the oval.

Foreign Ministry requirements
A 3 × 4 cm color photo with a white background, facing the camera with the head centered, both eyes open, no glare, and no hair or accessories covering the face. The file must be a JPG of no more than 300 KB. A blue background is only accepted in specific cases, such as people with no hair or white hair. Source: Cancillería de Colombia.
The file size
The 300 KB limit is the most common reason the platform rejects a photo: phone photos are usually 2 to 5 MB. Here the file stays under the limit without losing sharpness. If your photo is ready and only the size is the problem, use compress a photo to 200 KB.
The other documents
Besides the photo, the application asks for scanned documents such as your passport’s data page. Scan them with your phone using scan a document and combine them into one PDF with JPG to PDF.
Questions and answers
Is it the same for tourist, study and work visas?
Yes, the photo has the same requirements for every visa type requested online.
Can the background be grey?
No, the Foreign Ministry asks for white; blue is only accepted in specific cases.
How big can the file be?
300 KB at most, in JPG format.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. Everything is processed inside your browser, on your own phone or computer: your photos don’t leave your device. The only exceptions are “Put the suit on me” and “Restore photo”, which send a reduced copy of your photo to our server only to create the image, and don’t store it.
