Photo for the Vietnam e-Visa

The Vietnam e-Visa is requested on the official portal evisa.gov.vn, and the photo must be 4 × 6 cm, with a white background, facing the camera and without glasses. Here it comes out at 400 × 600 px in a small JPG the portal accepts.

Drag the photo and zoom: the top of the head goes on the upper line, the chin on the lower one and the face inside the oval.

Next step of your application

Forms almost always ask for something else besides the photo. It’s right here, free:

How to use it

  1. Take a front-facing photo against a white background, without glasses.
  2. Fit your head inside the guide, centered.
  3. Tap “Create photos” and download the 400 × 600 px JPG.
  4. Upload it on evisa.gov.vn together with the image of your passport’s data page.

Requirements

A 4 × 6 cm color photo with a white or very light background, facing the camera with a neutral expression and mouth closed, no glasses and no headwear (except for religious reasons), taken within the last six months. The file is a JPG. The portal’s file-size limit has changed over time, so here the file stays under 200 KB.

Watch out for lookalike sites

There is only one official Vietnam e-Visa portal: evisa.gov.vn. Many similar-looking sites charge extra fees. Check the address before you pay.

The passport image

The portal also asks for an image of your passport’s data page, with the machine-readable zone (the two lines at the bottom) complete and legible. Straighten and clean it up with scan a document.

Questions and answers

Can I wear glasses?

No, the Vietnam e-Visa doesn’t accept glasses, not even prescription ones.

What pixel size is it?

400 × 600 px, the proportion of 4 × 6 cm.

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No. Everything is processed inside your browser, on your own phone or computer: your photos don’t leave your device. The only exceptions are “Put the suit on me” and “Restore photo”, which send a reduced copy of your photo to our server only to create the image, and don’t store it.
