Photo for an OCI card application
The OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) card is requested online and needs a square digital photo between 200 × 200 and 900 × 900 pixels and no larger than 200 KB. Here it comes out at 600 × 600 px, within those limits.
Drag the photo and zoom: the top of the head goes on the upper line, the chin on the lower one and the face inside the oval.

How to use it

- Center your face: it should fill most of the photo.
- Tap “Create photos” and download the square JPG under 200 KB.
Requirements
A square JPG or JPEG of 200 KB max, from 200 × 200 to 900 × 900 pixels, in color, with a plain or white background and no border, facing the camera with the head, shoulders and full face in the middle. A printed photo must be square, at least 51 × 51 mm, with a matte finish. Source: Embassy of India.
Why OCI photos get rejected
The most common problems are a photo that isn’t square, a file over 200 KB, shadows on the background or a face that’s too small. The portal also asks for your signature as a separate file: you can lift it from a signed sheet of paper with digital signature.
Questions and answers
What pixel size should I use?
600 × 600 px sits inside the 200 to 900 px range and keeps the file small.
Can I reuse my India e-Visa photo?
Both are square with a white background, but the OCI limit is lower: 200 KB.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. Everything is processed inside your browser, on your own phone or computer: your photos don’t leave your device. The only exceptions are “Put the suit on me” and “Restore photo”, which send a reduced copy of your photo to our server only to create the image, and don’t store it.
