Compress an image to 200 KB
200 KB is one of the most common upload limits on visa applications, job portals and government websites, and a normal phone photo is 15 to 30 times bigger. Pick your photos here and each one comes back under the limit, at the highest quality that still fits.
How to use it
- Tap “Choose photos” and pick one or more photos or scans.
- Keep 200 in “Max file size (KB)”, or type the exact limit the form shows.
- Check the new size shown under each photo and tap “Download” or “Download all”.
Why 200 KB is a comfortable limit
At 200 KB a JPG can still hold around 1200 to 1600 pixels on its long side at good quality, more than a passport-style photo or a one-page scan needs. In most cases only the compression changes and the pixel dimensions stay as they were; the photo is scaled down only when there is no other way to fit, and the result line tells you when that happened.
Several files for one application
Applications often ask for a photo, an ID scan and a certificate, each under its own limit. Select all of them at once: every file is processed separately and keeps its own name with “-200kb” added, so you can tell them apart when uploading. If one needs a different limit, change the number and the whole batch is recalculated.
Questions and answers
The portal says “up to 200 KB” but rejects my file. Why?
Some sites count 200 KB as 200 × 1024 bytes and others as 200,000 bytes. We use the smaller figure, so a file saved here is 200,000 bytes or less and passes either way. If it still fails, type 190 and try again.
My photo is a PNG or HEIC. Does it work?
Yes. PNG, WebP and iPhone HEIC files are accepted and saved as JPG, the format that reaches small sizes without looking bad. A JPG that is already under 200 KB is returned as it is.
Is 200 KB enough to print?
No: for printing keep the original. 200 KB is for screens and forms. If the form allows more, 500 KB keeps more detail; if it allows less, use 100 KB. To set exact pixel dimensions first, use resize image.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. Everything is processed inside your browser, on your own phone or computer. Your photos never leave your device and nobody else can see them.
