No. 08 — Reduce file size

Compress an image to 50 KB

Some job portals, schools and online forms only accept photos of 50 KB or less. With a phone photo of several megabytes that sounds impossible, but here it takes seconds.

How to use it

  1. Choose your photo.
  2. Leave 50 in “Max file size (KB)”.
  3. Download the photo, ready to upload.

Will it look good at just 50 KB?

For an ID-style or profile photo, yes. We find the best quality that fits in 50 KB and, if the photo is very large, scale it down just enough to keep it sharp on screen.

Questions and answers

What if the form wants 20 to 50 KB?

Leave 50 as the maximum: we look for the best quality under that limit, so the photo will end up close to 50 KB and well above 20 KB.

Can I reduce several photos at once?

Yes. Select them all and download them one by one or all together.

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No. Everything is processed inside your browser, on your own phone or computer. Your photos never leave your device and nobody else can see them.
