Photo for the Malaysia eVISA

The official Malaysia eVISA guide asks for a 35 × 50 mm photo, taller than usual, with the face 30 to 35 mm tall, a white or blue background and no border or frame. The portal checks photos automatically and rejects those that don’t comply. Here it comes out in those dimensions.

Drag the photo and zoom: the top of the head goes on the upper line, the chin on the lower one and the face inside the oval.

Next step of your application

Forms almost always ask for something else besides the photo. It’s right here, free:

How to use it

  1. Take a front-facing photo with your eyes open and a white background.
  2. Fit your head between the guide lines: 30 to 35 mm tall.
  3. Tap “Create photos” and download the JPG.
  4. Upload it on the Malaysia eVISA portal.

Requirements

A 35 × 50 mm color photo, full face from the front with eyes open, head 30 to 35 mm tall (with about 5 mm of space above), plain white or blue background, no border or frame and no head covering except for religious reasons. Blurred, tilted, distant or too-small photos are rejected. Source: Malaysia eVISA photo requirements (MDEC).

Automatic validation

Since 2026 the portal checks the photo by itself: if it fails, the application goes to manual review and is delayed. The usual problems are shadows on the background, retouching and filters, and glare on glasses. If your photo is too heavy for the portal, shrink it with compress to 500 KB.

Questions and answers

Can the background be blue?

Yes, the guide accepts white or blue; we use white, which works for almost every application.

Can I use a 35 × 45 mm photo?

No, Malaysia asks for 35 × 50 mm.

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No. Everything is processed inside your browser, on your own phone or computer: your photos don’t leave your device. The only exceptions are “Put the suit on me” and “Restore photo”, which send a reduced copy of your photo to our server only to create the image, and don’t store it.
